What to expect
On arrival to the practice, you will be asked to complete a new patient form which provides general information about you, your history and the problems you are experiencing. During your first visit you will receive the following:
On completion of your paperwork, you will have a consultation with Chidi, who will take a thorough history, discuss your health-related problems and any other issues or concerns you may have.
Following your consultation, a complete examination will be performed. This includes posture analysis, movement, and relevant neurological, orthopaedic and spinal and muscle tests. If indicated, an examination of your heart, blood pressure, lungs and abdomen will be carried out. Should an x-ray or other scans be required, this will be discussed with you and you will be referred externally as necessary.
Once all necessary information has been gathered, you will receive a report of findings covering the following:
- A diagnosis of your presentation.
- An explanation of why you are experiencing such problems in simple easy to understand language using models and pictures.
- Exploration of the options that will benefit you the most, whether it be treatment with us or another health professional or modality.
- How much it is going to cost and the different options available.
- A tailored plan for your individual needs, lifestyle and goals.
If you are happy with everything that has been explained, with your consent, you will receive your first treatment. This usually includes spinal adjustments, soft tissue techniques and advice tailored to your individual case. Treatments are interactive so you can ask questions at any time. Everything will be explained in detail for your comfort and education.
Some patients experience almost instant relief. Others discover it can take many weeks or months depending on the chronicity and difficulty of their problem. The number of adjustments required varies with each person’s individual circumstances and health goals. As your body stabilises, visits will be less often. Throughout your visits, your progress will be monitored and treatments modified as needed. Many factors can affect the healing process and these will be discussed with you as your body heals.
