Tennis is a fantastic and demanding sport which requires speed, power, endurance, balance and co-ordination. Injuries can occur on many parts of the body due to the high speed on racquet impact, poor technique, poor warm up/cool down, inadequate equipment, previous injuries/falls legs and overuse of weakened muscles, especially your dominant arm. This can predispose you to a variety of shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle, hip, back and muscle injuries as well as the impact playing on the variety of surfaces such as hard court or artificial grass.
What do you feel?
Symptoms include restriction/stiffness, pain, cramping, pinching/catching, numbness, pins and needles, sharp shooting pain, burning, weakness, inability to comfortably grip the racket, difficulty bending to lift ball, pain on serving, inability to sprint and stop suddenly affecting your game and co-ordination. If left untreated conditions such as ankle sprain, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow and shin splints can occur.
