An efficient golf swing challenges the whole body therefore it requires good mechanics, physical fitness, quality joint movement and flexibility. It is very much based on what a player can physically do.
As golf is a sport that requires both strength and flexibility, any of your body’s physical limitations can negatively affect your golf swing and your game in general. The most common areas of complaint during golf are back, foot, hip, knee, ankle, shoulder as well as and neck, elbow or wrist and core impacting on your swings quality. The restrictions you feel may not necessarily be from a golfing injury but could result from previous slips and falls or poor posture.
What do you feel?
Symptoms can include restriction/stiffness, pain, cramping, pinching/catching, numbness, pins and needles, sharp shooting pain, burning, weakness, inability to comfortably grip the club, difficulty bending to lift ball, pain carrying your golf bag, restriction in swing affecting your speed, distance and control, or inability to simply walk the course resulting in difficulty enjoying your game and changes to your handicap.
What to do?
The practitioners at Chidi Lynn Proactive have helped many golfers lower their handicap through assessing and correcting the physical restrictions of their body, education on the necessary components of good mechanical function and exercise rehabilitation to improve their golf swing. We also work alongside Kings Hill Golf Club to bring your game to the next level of performance.
If your body is not performing how you would like, it is worth having a consult with us to establish the cause. If your pain is beyond our scope of practice, you will be referred and advised accordingly for the appropriate therapy/investigations.
If it is within our scope, we can work with you to help restore your body to its natural mechanics and relieve the tightness enabling the body to self-heal and regulate; as well as discuss the best way to prevent re-occurrence.
What would it be like to be pain free, functioning and enjoying ‘normal’ again?
