Soccer requires aerobic fitness, coordination, endurance and ability to combine rigorous physical exercise with ball contact, player to player contact, and ability to play in all field conditions.
The most common injuries footballers endure are back, hamstrings, groin, achilles, calves, neck, ankle and knee. Injuries can occur from fatigue, overtraining, improper stretching technique, falls or impact affecting ligaments, muscles tendons, cartilage and biomechanical function.
What do you feel?
Symptoms can include restriction/stiffness, pain, cramping, pinching/catching, numbness, pins and needles, sharp shooting pain, burning, and weakness resulting in difficulty co-ordinating ball direction, tackling difficulties, instability in joints, difficulty running or affecting performance.
Improper mechanical use of the body can lead to shin splints, tendonitis, sprains and in children, growth spurts can lead to tightened muscles resulting in conditions such as Osgood Schlatters or pulled muscles.
