CrossFit is a strength and conditioning programme consisting mainly of compound movements and shorter high intensity cardiovascular sessions. It requires stamina, strength, flexibility, power, co-ordination, balance and endurance. Injuries tend to occur as a result of the body mechanics not working properly preventing proper function and balance of the muscles being used. This could be due to a sudden impact, not warming up or cooling down properly, overtraining and pushing your body beyond its limits, or improper use of equipment. Repeated stresses over time can progressively reduce the body’s ability to function optimally thereby affecting its performance.
What do you feel?
Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, swelling, tightness, nerve pain, muscular tightness resulting in an inability to progress training, one side feeling weaker than the other, unbalanced, restricted movement in certain positions and gradually progressing to aching, pins and needles, sharp pain, burning, delayed muscle soreness post training.

If your body is not performing how you would like, it is worth having a consult with us to establish the cause. If your pain is beyond our scope of practice, you will be referred and advised accordingly for the appropriate therapy/investigations.
