What can be the cause?

Neck and upper back pain can occur from poor posture, prolonged sitting, sleeping awkwardly or from an impact/injury resulting in pain and restricted mobility.

What do you feel?

Symptoms of neck and upper back pain can often be felt as a ‘knot’, stiffness, restriction or pain at the bottom of the neck. The pain and restricted mobility can lead to headaches, and/or symptoms of heaviness, weakness, aching, pins and needles, weakness, or numbness in the arm / hand. This type of pain can become debilitating and result in Stress and fatigue significantly affecting daily living preventing you doing simple tasks like looking over your shoulder comfortably, reaching, carrying or even sitting comfortably.

What to do?

If you are suffering from neck/upper back pain, it is worth having a consult with us to establish its cause. If your pain is beyond our scope of practice, you will be referred and advised accordingly for the appropriate therapy/investigations.
