Meet Mel

melMelissa Porter graduated from Bournemouth University in 2009 where focus was on aiding recovery of clients.

From a very young age Melissa has been keenly interested in Sport and Health, including playing Hockey and Sailing to a regional level and Participating in Ballet to a high standard and eventually teaching at her Mother’s Dance School. All aspects which promoted Melissa to invest further study into Exercise Science which covered rehabilitation of Young, Elderly, Health Conditions all the way to Professional Athletes.

After Graduating from University, Melissa worked alongside the head physiotherapist at Crystal Palace FC and at the Injury Specialist unit based at the well renowned athletic ground in Crystal Palace. In 2012 Melissa changed avenues within the Health Industry and decided a change was in order and further studied in Sports Massage Level 5 and completed a diploma in Personal Training after having Personal Training herself she decided this was the job for her.

After years of running and heavy weight training, Melissa suffered from a Back Spasm and knee complaints which is when she was introduced to Chidi. Melissa has regular treatments with Chidi to maintain her body to a strong standard for such an active Job.

Melissa’s approach to Health and Fitness is to educate clients on the importance of movement and care of the body which includes, Mobility, Flexibility, strength and Movement – all which can be achieved through training, massage and spinal treatment. Melissa is also a Personal Trainer at CrossFit ChalkBox where she has become known as the ‘Back Woman’ due to her effective approach to training.
